If you want to be rewarded for shopping, then look no further than the Singapore Airlines Westpac Platinum credit card. The account comes with two credit cards so that you can earn points on every single purchase made. Not only does it offer an excellent rewards program, but it also comes with a host of additional benefits including complimentary overseas travel insurance for yourself and your family. Read our full review of its features before applying.

Benefit of the Card’s Best Features?

This is a companion card account, so you get an American Express and a Visa card, both of which are managed through one single account but have different earn rates. The benefit of having two different credit cards is that you’ll always be able to accumulate reward points, if the retailer doesn’t accept Amex, simply switch to the Visa. If the merchant does accept Amex, then you can use it to pay and get rewarded at the higher earn rate.

With the Singapore Airlines Westpac Platinum American Express card, you’ll earn 1.5 KrisFlyer miles for every $1 spent, regardless of where you are in the world. If you use the Visa card in Australia you will earn 0.5 miles for every $1 spent. Outside of Australia, the Platinum Visa card pays out at a rate of 1.5 KrisFlyer miles for every $1. With this in mind, the American Express is best for domestic purchases and the Visa for international use.

Westpac also offer all new accountholders 10,000 complimentary KrisFlyer miles with their first purchase and will even double the reward miles every time you spend on the Singapore Airlines website.

The Singapore Airlines Platinum Westpac card offers more than just a rewards scheme, it also comes with a number of really useful first-class benefits including a range of complimentary insurance such as comprehensive overseas travel insurance for up to 6 months. The account also comes with purchase security insurance – offering financial protection against, theft, damage and loss of any item you buy using your card. There’s also extended warranty insurance – giving you peace of mind that you’re fully protected should an item you purchase break.

Credit card security is also second-to-none and includes Visa’s Verified technology, which adds an extra layer of protection against online credit card fraud. The Visa card also comes equipped with payWave, allowing you to pay for low cost items by simply waving you card over a terminal – perfect if you want to shop in a hurry!

Are There Any Drawbacks?

At $250 p.a., the annual management fee is quite high in comparison to other reward cards currently available. However, if you will take advantage of the free travel insurance, and spend regularly on credit cards (paying it back in full each month) then you’ll save far more than $250 over the course of a year.

Who would be suited?

This card is ideal for anyone who loves to shop, but wants to be rewarded for doing so. It would also suit those of you who fly frequently and want to cut down on flight costs. If Singapore Airlines is your preferred airline, then you have little choice between this card and its gold sibling.

Who is Eligible?

If you earn $65,000 or more and are over the age of 18, then you are eligible for this exclusive Platinum account. You’ll also need a good credit score and will be required to be either a permanent resident or citizen.

Conclusion

The Singapore Airlines Platinum card is a must-have – with plenty of ways to earn KrisFlyer miles, it’s only a matter of time before your flying away with Singapore Airlines. The card also comes with an impressive 0.99% p.a. interest rate on balance transfers for the first 6 months, so if you’re looking to switch credit cards, sign up now to start earning your rewards!
