The Westpac Earth Standard and Gold credit cards are both popular in themselves. But did you know that the Westpac Earth Platinum credit card is a step up from both of these? With this card, you can expect the best features including top notch service from a dedicated customer service team. Although the basic features of these three cards are shared, the Platinum edition is in a class of its own.
Benefit of the Card’s Best Features?
The main benefit of the Earth Platinum credit card is its Qantas frequent flyer program. With this, you will receive 1.5 points for every $1 spent on your American Express card. If you use the MasterCard instead, you will receive 0.5 points for every $1 spent.
Are you looking for a way to earn more points? With no cap, your answer should be yes. To make this a reality, you can request an additional card. This puts you in position to earn twice as many points.
With the Westpac Earth Platinum credit card you receive five types of insurance coverage including: extended warranty insurance, purchase security insurance, rental vehicle insurance, transit accident insurance, and overseas travel insurance.
When you carry this credit card you will always have help at your fingertips. All cardholders have access to the 24/7 Westpac Earth Platinum Concierge. From booking travel and entertainment to finding you accommodations, this service can be used worldwide.
For the first 6 months, you can take advantage of balance transfers at the low rate of 0.99% p.a.
Are There Any Drawbacks?
You don’t have to look far to find the biggest drawback of this card: a $250 p.a. annual fee. This is one of the larger annual fees that you will come across. The question you have to answer is this: are you willing to pay $250 p.a. for the benefits outlined above?
The interest rates attached to this card are also on the high side, as you’d expect with a platinum level card. The cash advance interest rate is 21.49% p.a. (variable). For purchases, there is a variable interest rate of 19.99% p.a. However, for selected Qantas products and services you can receive a fixed interest rate that’s lower.
Who is Eligible?
Eligibility requirements for the Westpac Earth Platinum credit card are stricter than the Standard and Gold cards. To qualify, you must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum annual income of $65,000.
Who Would be Suited?
The Westpac Earth Platinum credit card is an exclusive credit card – it is not suitable for everybody. Even if you meet the income requirements, you may not be interested in this card due to its high annual fee.
Those who find the Westpac Earth Platinum credit card most appealing are frequent flyers as well as businesses that benefit from collecting reward points on every dollar spent.
