Founded back in 1966 (when it was known as MasterCharge) as a competitor to BankAmericard, MasterCard has grown to become a household name around the world and a leader in payment processing. MasterCard credit cards are widely accepted not only in Australia but in countries around the world. MasterCard do not issue cards themselves, but many of the leading banks in Australia use them to process payments between the merchant’s bank account and the purchaser’s bank account. Credit cards that use MasterCard come in all flavours with everything from balance transfer cards to reward cards available.
